From Small Family Business to Award Winning Firm

Landmark Landscapes was founded in 1990 by David and Suzanne Majerus with a clear purpose: to elevate landscape design and horticulture in Sheboygan County.

At a time when outdoor spaces were often an afterthought, they saw the potential for landscapes to be intentional, refined, and enduring. Working from a repurposed room in their home—with a drafting table, a word processor, and a single pickup truck—they built the company on craftsmanship, plant expertise, and a commitment to doing things right.

Early relationships with discerning clients proved there was real demand for landscapes as thoughtfully designed as the homes they surround.

Ownership Transition

As the company matured, so did client expectations. Jesse and Joe Majerus—raised in the business and trained in landscape architecture, urban forestry, and soil science—returned with a broader perspective. After acquiring the company, they saw that exceptional results required a more specialized team.

By growing intentionally, they brought in talented designers, craftsmen, and horticultural experts, creating a more refined process, greater clarity for clients, and consistently elevated outcomes. With a vision to grow, lead, and exceed, Landmark became one of eastern Wisconsin’s most awarded landscape design, build, and care firms.
