Landmark Landscapes’ Enhancements Foreman, Dia Meyer, participated in the 2024 National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC). Dia is a student at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) and is pursuing an Associate Degree in Landscape Design and Horticulture.
This prestigious competition was held at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. Each year, more than 600 students from two and four-year universities assemble to compete and test their skills in real-world landscape scenarios. The NCLC also serves as the industry’s largest career fair, enabling students to network with landscape and horticulture companies from across the country.
Range of Competitions
The NCLC offered various avenues for students to showcase their skills in the landscape industry. Competitions ranged from irrigation installations to plant identification to equipment operations and landscape installations. Landmark’s Dia Meyer participated in two competitions: Landscape Installation with a Team and Woody Ornamental Plant ID.
In both competitions, Dia finished in the top 40th percentile. In the Landscape Installation as a Team, Dia was paired with MATC students who did not have experience installing a landscape. However, Dia, with multiple seasons of work experience at Landmark, was able to lead her team and teach them along the way. The judges complimented them on how well they worked as a team.
A Rewarding Experience for Meyer
Overall, Dia enjoyed the experience. She relished competing amidst the majestic scenery of Provo, Utah, which provided an opportunity to better get to know her fellow students and even her instructors.
At Landmark, we are delighted to have Dia on our team. Her passion, talent, and potential enhance the quality of service we extend to our clients.
